Caption notes
In this 2010 talk, R. Stanley Williams recounts how the HP team connected a stateful resistive device with a memristor model. He separates a device’s present conduction characteristics from the evolution of its internal state, then explains why ordinary measurement routines can interact with a changing device, motivating repeated probing, pulsing and probing again. Later sections propose memory, reconfigurable logic and synapse-like computation while acknowledging that adopting a new device requires system changes rather than simply replacing existing memory. This is a historical research and modeling account. Equations, microscopy, lifetime and performance figures are not independently verified; predictions of storage replacement within five years or efficiency gains within ten are not present product updates or purchasing evidence.
